The best examples of brain dead brainwashed Send Out Cards distributors come from postings like this. Keith and Dennis have done nothing but highlight information provided by Send Out Cards THEMSELVES. Thinking adults know reality isn't always positive, and ignoring it doesn't make it go away.

Jon: It must be comforting for you to make up stories. I have never been involved in any MLM scheme in the same way I have never done drugs but still know they're bad. If I say drugs are bad does that mean I've obviously had a bad experience with them? Or, does it mean that I happen to know something about their psychoactive effects and chemical composition that makes them bad news? And, I'm insecure? Who's the insecure one here, Jon? My URL (almightydad) was SEO friendly, topical to my blog, and available. That's called being smart, Jon, not insecure. You're stating all the tripe SOC wants you to say. Calling me negative, telling everyone to just ignore the warning signs and keep positive. What rubbish! What would you do if you were on train tracks, a minute from being run over? Following you're logic all I have to do is pump you full of positive brainwash garbage and you'll happily trot down those tracks chanting hymns, then get run over -- despite the throngs of people telling you you're about to get squished. Grow up, Jon, and stop acting like a drone. Think for yourself.

SOC people - This guy has obviously had a bad experience with a network marketing company. He is insecure (Almighty Dad! - come on, who does he think he is?!). This moron is bad energy and jealous. And his little minions as well. JUST IGNORE HIM. Don't post here, don't respond to his unfounded jibes and get on with spreading kindness in the world through our amazing way to reach out. And if you can help some people who are struggling financially these days, good for you. Stay away from this negative person - ignore him.

"I love the product...who cares if it is a MLM". A reasonable statement. I like the product too, and the service--no problems there so I see where you are coming from. Here's why I care. My friend who is involved in Send Out Cards has been basically brainwashed. She truly believes in her heart she is going to be rich doing this, and has pinned all her hopes on it. Even though the income disclosure shows that isn't going to happen. Her entire life now revolves around Send Out Cards. She now only socializes with other Send Out Cards people, and it's all she ever talks about. Ever. She acts like she's in a cult. She is boring as shit.

She lies about how much money she's made because to tell the truth would be "negative" and she is convinced she will be an Eagle making the big bucks...someday. So, she figures, it's OK to fib about things now--or to bring prospects over to her big, fancy house and give them the impression her Send Out Cards income contributes to having it when in fact, the house is rented and her husband's income pays all the bills. Or that it's OK to pester the shit out of everyone she knows putting the hard sell on because she's "not trying to sell them something, I'm just trying to share how to enrich their lives by responding to promptings!" Or to join a church when she's never attended one in her entire life before--not out of some deep sense of religious conviction--but because it's a good way to recruit people into Send Out Cards.

In reality, she has been doing it for five years, and is still only a senior manager. She makes now about $2,000 per year, but spends thousands more attending Send Out Cards events all over the country, the cost to remain in Send Out Cards with the autoship, photo store purchases, gift accounts trying to get people to sign up, motivational books, DVDs, magazines, and now the cost of the "certified training program". Her Scedule C has shown a loss for all 5 years. I have warned her the IRS may consider Send Out Cards a "hobby" and disallow her deductions, making her owe back taxes plus penalties and interest, as has occurred with other MLM people, but she doesn't care of course--she is 100% sure eventually she'll make the big bucks and the expenses will be worth it.

I don't buy products from companies--even if the product is awesome--who tell people they can be financially free if they just work hard, when their income disclosure shows that's not the case. And when my friend fails to make millions, like the 130,000 others who have joined Send Out Cards since it started, she's going to think it's because she didn't work hard enough, not because the system is rigged against her success. Selling false hope isn't illegal, but it sure is crappy, unethical, and slimy.

Error correction. We know how many Eagles and Senior Executives there are as Send Out Cards lists them. Median means half above, half below that number. There are 4 Eagles and 9 Senior Exexutives. The median income for Senior Executives in 2010 was $73,587 so half made less than that meaning about 4 made more. That means out of 30,000 active distributors (or an estimated 130,000 active plus inactive) only 8 people in 2010 made more than $73,000 in Send Out Cards before taxes and expenses. The company says you can be "financially free" in 2-5 years with lots of hard work, in the 8 years SOC has been around, only 8 people have managed to even get close--and I would argue only the Eagles--4 people--are really making an income that would qualify as "financially free".

I have to say I love SendOutCards. My husband first showed me the product and asked what I thought. I do not like Network Marketing. But I love this product. We did decide to become a distributor after looking at their plan. I use the product just about everyday by choice. The convenience of this product is great, not the mention the quality. I had and have the same concerns as anyone else out there but who cares if it is a MLM or anything else. The product speaks for itself. We are making a little money but honestly I didn't get in it for that reason. I truly love making a great card from my own pictures and hearing how much my family and friends love the cards. Now that they have added the SOC store is is even better. Have a great day and God bless you all.

I suppose the idea that people are making "significant income" with Send Out Cards is a matter of perspective. The most recent stats available are on the 2010 income disclosure show only 13 people make more than a median of $23,000 per year before taxes and expenses. Approximately 93 people make more than a median of $3,000. By contrast, 27,000 people (out of an estimated 30,000 current active distributors) made a median of $139 in 2010. I can't think of any other business with 30,000 employees or contractors, even if they work only 10 hours a week, who have so many who make so little--because they would QUIT.

People who have been in Send Out Cards an average of 18 months (Senior Managers) made a median of $3,000 and Managers made $563, so let's run some numbers and see what a reasonable take home for those 18 months of work might be for a hypothetical Senior Manager.

Our hypothetical Senior Manager in the 18 months since he joined made a median of $563 when he was a manager for a year, and a median of $1500 for the 6 months at Senior Manager for a grand total of $2,063 in income. Now for the deductions over those 18 months

1. Cost to join: $465
2. $31 autoship for 18 months $558
3. Yearly renewal fee $59
4. Two trips to the national convention and/or recruiting mastery event $2,000
6. Gift account purchases, photo store purchases, Send Out Cards motivational books, magazines, and DVD purchases let's say $500

Total expenses for 18 months: $3,582

Net income since joining Send Out Cards: $ - 1,519 for an average of 12 hours per work a week for let's say 73 weeks of work = 876 hours of work to be in a hole by more than $1,000. By contrast, a minimum wage job employee would have brought in $6,351 for the same hours of work.

Wow! What an amazing system! Financial Freedom here you come!

Keith,
If you had started distributing send out cards on the day you decided it was a scam , you would probably be earning a significant income on the side right now, provided you took some simple steps to promote the legitimate service that send out is. You should post an update about how much the different levels of distributors are making now. You may be surprised. I do understand that you've already chosen your beliefs and no amount of reason will sway your opinion of MLMs. People are making significant incomes selling this product with minimal effort. Good luck to you with your investigations. I appreciate your effort and your initiation of a lively thread. BH

Jon: I'm wrong? This article was written two years ago, and the stats are almost exactly the same now. Now, big deal, there are 4 eagles. I'm going to say the same thing I tell everyone like you. There is almost no chance that you've made money with Send Out Cards. In fact, you're probably in the hole. I'm making a lot more off of this blog than you ever will with SOC.
