To Force Participation in Hobbies, or Not to Force?

By: Keith

To force participation in hobbies, or not to force? | Guest post at Dad JamI wrote an article today for The Dad Jam concerning the question of forced participation in hobbies.  Should we, as parents, force our kids to participate in the activities in which we’ve recognized talented?  What about when they show interest in an activity only to quit when they discover it’s hard?  Should we force them on in an attempt to give the activity a fair shot, or should be allow them to explore on their own terms?  At what point does a parent turn from supportive cheerleader to overbearing ogre?  My opinion is that parents should fall somewhere in between.  We cannot leave kids to their own devices, but we also shouldn’t push so hard that a sport, academic endeavor, or hobby loses it’s original allure.  For the complete article please continue HERE… And enjoy the other articles that the dad jam offers while you’re there.
