Kid Shoes: Buy Online, Get a Good Fit
By: Keith
Neil (my 7 year old) has extra wide feet, and that makes buying shoes for him difficult. His feet simply do not fit into regular width shoes. Even wide shoes are a squeeze. Having no desire to see him develop misshapen feet due to ill fitting shoes, I sometimes end up spending an entire day driving all over Denver looking for a single pair that fits him. Recently though, I’ve taken to ordering him shoes online to avoid wasting my time driving. There are several places to order kid shoes online; I happened to use Zappos.com, but there are a few places with free shipping so any of them would have done the job. The one thing I wouldn’t do is order shoes directly from Stride Rite. They charge 7 dollars for shipping, and delivery takes 7-10 business days. Stupid!
How to Measure Feet:
1. Draw a straight long vertical line on a standard sheet of paper.
2. Put it down on a flat surface and have your kid stand on the line with the heel and longest toe (surprisingly it’s not always the big toe) centered over the line you drew in step one.
3. Mark the line at the heel and toe.
4. Measure the distance with a ruler and make the conversion with the chart below. Use the measurement of the larger foot (one foot is bigger than the other).

This is great to know! My daughter has the opposite problem, she has very narrow, tiny feet, and I can’t find too many shoes that fit her. I’m betting I’ll find some narrow shoes on line. I didn’t even think of it! DUH! Thanks for posting this.
HEY, where ya been? I’ve been “shopping online for shoes” since our little one was, well, not yet conceived…LOL!
Kudos to you though, for finding what works…and congrats….to his feet
