Pumpkin Carvings: Most CreativeCalabazas talladas: las más creativas

By: Keith

My boys and I tried carving our pumpkins for the first time last year.  Previously we had just painted them.  I’m sorry to say that I’m not a very good instructor and our pumpkins came out looking extremely normal.  I gave up on trying to create artistic pumpkin carvings a long time ago.  My Jack O’lanterns  are basic — triangular eyes and nose (because I can only cut straight lines) and a toothless smile.  I’m happy with basic.  However, there are some people who have creativity pouring out of them, and which manifests itself in pumpkin art.  What I have here is a collection of some of the most creative pumpkin designs around.  There are some I found, but did not include, that take more artistic skill (like the Obama carving or the Predator Carving if you want to look them up).  I think the ones I’ve listed, while perhaps not all technically difficult, were tops for creativity irrespective of that.

Funny how they come alive. I’m in favor of the lots of glue ones because pumpkin carving can be a bit dangerous. Thanks for finding these.

yeah, the glued ones seem slightly less risky :-) I stink at pumpkin carving, but then i’ve never had good tools. Maybe the tools make all the difference.

Oh man, those are AWESOME! :) I love those. I wish I had the skill to turn out something like that. But my kids are going to have to be happy with a few toothy grins on our pumpkins. :)

Hey, I just did a posting on Pumpkins as well, but you had a few I didn’t. I love the beautiful pumpkin carving. I may need to add another post of pretty pumpkins a la Martha Stewart. Thanks for sharing. ( I am posting the witch and fingers one as well, I will link to you since I don’t know where you got it.)

I like the perverted pumpkins :) You are right though, carving a pumpkin does take some artistic talent. If I don’t have a template, I don’t have a chance!
