The Best Road Trip Albums
By: Keith
Best is a subjective term. Obviously there are thousands of great albums that I’ve never heard which other people would think are the best. But, in the last 30 days I’ve driven a little over 6,000 miles with my wife and two boys, and I’ve listened to quite a few albums. With kids in the car I excluded the overtly explicit albums (I don’t have very many anyway) and included ones that I thought the boys and I could enjoy together, as opposed to just listening to silly kid songs that drive me nuts. Well, of the several hundred albums that I had with me, these are the ones I liked the most and that the boys also enjoyed. Yes, I’m a little bit of a dork. But, Neil Diamond is pretty awesome if you’ll just give him a chance. Ennio Morricone is best played while driving through Utah or Arizona. K.D. Lang is best when you’re stuck on the 101 in LA and you need to feel better. James Bond is literally applicable anywhere but most of all in the mountains on curvy roads. So, this is my taste in music. Yours is probably different, but this got me through a few bouts of nonstop 24 hour drives.
1. Ennio Morricone: The Legendary Italian Westerns
2. The Mavericks: What a Crying Shame
3. K.D. Lang and the Recliners: Absolute Torch and Twang
4. The Best of James Bond: 30th Anniversary Collection
5. Neil Diamond: The Jazz Singer
6. The Cranberries: Bury the Hatchet
7. Mecano: Ana/José/Nacho
8. Queen: Innuendo
9. The Beatles: 1962-1966
10. Bob Seger: Beautiful Loser

6000 miles, much better man than me.
“.Ennio Morricone: The Legendary Italian Westerns”
He was a master. I use his music to write to all day long.
Bob Seger is always a good choice for a road trip. For whatever reason every time I hear “Roll Away” I imagine it as the music going during the credits of the movie I’ve written in my head. Maybe I should find some time and actually write the movie.
I won’t dis the Beatles like my fellow commenter, but personally I’d go for the 1967-1970 album
