Vote on a New Dum-Dums Lollipop Flavor

Dum-Dums are those lollipops that businesses like to hand out to kids when they’ve been well behaved waiting for a parent or spent 15 minutes not squirming in the barber’s chair. They’re cheap and kids love them. But, did you know that there have been 36 Dum-Dums flavors in the history of the Spangler Candy Company (and the Akron Candy Company before that)? Search Wikipedia and you’ll see the list. Cherry Cola and Pink Lemonade were dropped last year (if you find a box with those flavors, it might be a good idea to wonder how long it’s been there – banana was dropped in 2008). You might also be interested in knowing that Dum-Dums are looking to add a new flavor, and you, yes you, can vote on it. Cast your vote here.
Speaking of lollipops, did you know there are some pretty weird flavored pops out there? Hemp, Bacon, Tequila, Scorpion, … . It’s like those disgusting candies that the kids at Hogwarts like to eat, the ones that taste like barf and such. Lollipops apparently make a pretty good vehicle for weird. I’d rather leave the lollipops to kids. Check out these flavors, which aren’t Dum-Dums. Leave it to some novelty candy maker to produce a bacon flavored pop.

It’s between the Butt and the Maple Bacon. I think maple bacon gets my vote on this one.
OKAY. Those bug and scorpion lollipops are freaking me out. NYET!!! But the butt’s kind of cute, and the maple and bacon would just require a side of fried eggs and pancakes along with it. . .

My vote would go for the Tequila Pop – right down to the worm!!! There are some wild flavors happening. I came across an article at dmflavors.com – a flavor supplier – and they talk about Meatloaf Cupcakes – Inspired by slider sandwiches. Mini-meatloafs topped with mashed potato “frosting.” Does anyone think that is a bit odd, too!!
