Songs of Sesame Street

Sesame Street

Sesame Street is well known for having celebrities guest host their programming.  Through the years many of these celebrities have been singers.  I’ve done some searching and dug up some of these entertaining performances.  There were some that I wanted to include but couldn’t.  Alicia Keys was one that had a great guest spot singing about the letter L.  Unfortunately the Youtube video is of poor quality, and I couldn’t add it here.  Some, like Garth Brook’s appearance, I couldn’t even find.  These are the ones I could find.  I hope you like them!

Tony Bennet: Little Things

James Blunt: Singing About a Triangle

Andrea Bocelli: Putting Elmo to Sleep

Feist: 1,2,3,4

Nora Jones: The Letter Y

Johnny Cash: Five Feet High

Diana Krall: Everybody’s Song

Cab Calloway: Jump Jive

Madeline Kahn: Follow the Leader

Sheryl Crow: “I” Soaks up the Sun

Destiny’s Child: Walk

Placido Domingo: Meeting Placido Flamingo

The Floaters: Gimme Five

Smokey Robinson: It Takes Time

Hootie and the Blowfish: Hold my Hand

Michael Jackson and Ethel Merman: Christams Special

BB King: The Letter B

LL Cool J: Addition Expedition

Ziggy Marley: Different Sizes

Carly Simon: Be With Me

Bobby McFerrin: At the Birdland

James Taylor: Sings to Oscar

What, no Ladybug Picnic? haha. ‘Tis well Alicia Keys didn’t work out. She doesn’t rate with the heavy hitters like Cab Calloway, Johnny Cash and Placido Domingo. :-)

I gotta admit, Alicia Keys is not exactly my favorite person, but I do like her music. You’re right though; she’s not in the same league as Cab Calloway, Johnny Cash and Placido Domingo! Totally.

Some interesting videos. Do a search for “Billy Joel sesame street”, I thought that was a good one too.

Thanks for the comment, David. I saw the Billy Joel video when I was compiling this list. Don’t know particularly why I didn’t add it. Hmmm.

Sesame Street was my favorite when I was a kid. I really like the muppets. In fact, they have a movie and show of their own.

Breanna — The muppets are awesome. And then there was also Fraggle Rock! :-)
