Red Bull, A Frozen Dog Dish and My Roof is Into Valentine’s Day

By: Keith

Three bits of nonsense in one post.  That’s productive!

Red Bull has come out with a cola drink that’s actually pretty damn tasty and not terribly unhealthy.  First off it doesn’t have HFCS and it doesn’t have Phosphoric Acid.  That right there makes it my kind of cola drink.  Ingredients:  Water, Sugar, Carbon Dioxide, Caramel color, Natural Flavors from Plant Extracts (Galangal, Vanilla, Mustard Seed, Lime, Kola Nut, Cacao, Licorice, Cinnamon, Lemon, Ginger, Coca Leaf, Orange, Corn Mint, Pine, Cardamom, Mace, Clove) Lemon Juice Concentrate, Caffeine from Coffee Beans. Impressed?  I was.

Whole Foods has good, but misguided, intentions.  In Boulder we are very pet friendly.  Folks take their dogs everywhere with them, and it’s not uncommon to see dog dishes outside some stores for the refreshment of the pooches.  But, the other day it was 22 degrees outside and the dog dish at Whole Foods was frozen solid.  Good luck doggies, not that there’d be any takers anyway.

And, lastly, my roof is communicating with me.  See?  It melted to say how much it appreciates me living under it.

I guess I am kind of impressed by the Red Bull. Got a long drive tomorrow so that might come in handy.

Love the roof picture! (And I don’t buy Red Bull for my kids, though of course, what they’re doing when I’m not around. . . like most parents of teens, I can only hope I’ve given them a foundation, and the rest is up to them.)

Wolf: This is not Red Bull the energy drink. This is Red Bull the cola. It’s like coke but with actual good ingredients. Read the ingredients. I think you’ll be impressed.

I may have to look out for that Cola. Not to drink, of course, that’s probably still a diabetic’s nightmare, but I braise brisket in cola for tacos.

PJ: I imagine it is a diabetics nightmare :-) That sucks. My sister in law has diabetes and I was amazed at the foods I found myself preparing when she came to visit. My entire diet changed. Now that I think of it, it was probably for the better :-)
