In a Perfect World

By: Keith

Yesterday’s article was a bit serious.  Today I’ll balance that with something wistful.

In a perfect world there would be no murder, kids would respect their parents, nobody would starve to death and everybody would have a pet unicorn.  When I think of how the world could be improved, I do think of those altruistic ideals.  But, being a somewhat petty human being, as humans frequently are, my altruism veers off, and I predictably end up wanting more money and a cool car.  The rich get richer and, dang it, I want to be rich too!  I’m not going to lie; I think being rich would be a really awesome feeling.  And even though I know I can’t take a U-Haul to heaven and that rich people are, generally speaking, a pain in everybody’s ass, I still want to be rich.  Petty?  You Betcha (with a thumbs up and trying to sound like Sarah Palin).  In the spirit of wishing for a unicorn, and other things that will certainly or probably never happen, and that waste my time thinking about, I compiled a brief list of things I’d like to have.

My House:

I’m not a fan of audacious architecture.  I also don’t like houses that clash with nature.  But, I do like things that are sublime.  I’d like to live in a house that, on quick glance looks normal and unassuming, but that, on further inspection, really is impressive.    Falling Water, by Frank Lloyd Wright, is my ideal home.

My Car:

It has to be a family car so that sorta limits my options.  Nevertheless, I think I found one that’ll do nicely.  The Aston Martin Rapide would be fine – I guess.

Geography:

My skin doesn’t do well in the sun.  Thus, I’d like to live somewhere cloudy and forested.  I also like the ocean.  My favorite places in the world are Western Scotland and the West Coast of the United States.  Of course, there are a lot of places I haven’t been so I’m leaving my options open on this one.  It would look something like this – maybe.

That is all.  You may now carry on with your daily activities and pretend you didn’t just see me wishing, like a little kid, for a perfect world!

The Rapide is a nice choice. Personally, I’d go with the Maserati Quattroporte :)

Give me a gold-plated Dr. Pepper dispenser (the DP would need to be limitless, too) and I’ll be good to go.

Better watch out– sometimes wishes do come true. And you might be closer to SeattleDad than merely being Facebook friends.

Awww geez, I hear ya! Though I prefer muscle cars….a vintage Eleanor Mustang would be nice….BUT~my aunt was a millionaire, and it was sad to see how many people were around her only for her money. And when she died, “How much did she leave me?” was heard way too much. I hated how I saw certain members of my family after her death. I would hate wondering who my true friends were if I had had her money.
