Wal-Mart Brand Raisin Bran isn’t so RaisinyEl cereal de Raisin Bran de Wal-Mart no es tan pasudo

Yes, it’s stupid. It’s so stupid that I felt it was necessary to point it out. Sometimes buying the Great Value Wal-Mart brand food is a pretty good deal. Most of the cereal aisle, in fact, seems like a good deal. For instance, I save a dollar when I buy the Wal-Mart Grape Nuts (which aren’t actually called Grape Nuts); it contains the same ingredients, and it tastes the same as Post Grape Nuts as far as I can tell. Sadly, not all Great Value cereal products are such a Great Value. Witness:
Yes, I saved money (I can’t remember how much, but it must have been enough to get me to experiment in the first place), and yes, I could have added my own raisins. But, I don’t want to add my own raisins. I want them in the box like they are in the real Raisin Bran cereal. Those couple of raisins I did find must have been pretty lonely in that box alone.
Per, yo no quiero agregarle mis propias pasas. Yo las quiero en la caja de la misma manera que vienen en la caja original de Raisin Bran. Ese par de pasas que sí me encontré deben haberse sentido solitas en la caja.

I get this cereal all the time. I hate raisins but I get it for my kids. In, fact sometimes, I have to have the first bowl out of the box because they’ve all settled down to the bottom. Then I shake it up and mix the raisins all up for the kids. Sometimes, when I need to get a bowl, I have a problem eating it because there are so many raisins. I’m sorry you got a bad box. Normally, there are too many raisins in them. Wanna switch boxes??
Did you know they sell a Great Value Extra Raisin Bran Cereal?
Doesn’t say “Crunchy” on the box, and I have no idea about the taste difference or price difference.
Happy shopping!
Keith– that is hilarious! I did a search on “walmart raisin bran” on Google and you’re on the first page. You don’t show up on the first page of Bing (Microsoft’s search), but perhaps they are not as fast in crawling the web, since you only just published the article.
I wonder if Wal-Mart folks take notice of reviews like this? It would help their product team decide what to include and not include in their products to meet their price points.

My favorite Wal-Mart knock-offs:
Dr. Thunder instead of “Dr. Pepper”
and
Mountain Lightning instead of Mountain Dew

Ha ha, that IS classic! Call the 1-800 # on the side and get them to send you a coupon. Of course, the chances are the NEXT box will contain just a few more raisins.
Look for President’s Choice brand (some grocery stores in the states have them), that brand is as good as – or superior – to the name brands and cheaper, too.
I love this quote: “Certainly give the box a really good shake or the last 2 or 3 bowls in the box will be nothing but raisins. I love the flakes and how they stay crispy right to the end; the raisins aren’t all that plump but there sure are loads of them! I was a Kellogs Raisin Bran fan for my whole life but PC converted me about 5 years ago.”

You must have gotten a bad box, I’ve tried a bunch of different ‘raison bran’ brands and I Liked wal marts the best, although I haven’t seen it saying “Crunchy”, I like it with allot of raisons, and it DOES have allot, almost too much. As I think someone else mentioned.
Maybe crunchy isn’t so good, I’ve never seen that one around the Toronto area.
Actually lately i’ve been having issues finding Wal Marts version of Raison Bran, I’m going to have to start calling some stores, hopefully its not discontinued (or some sort of health threat!) :p
