That's interesting, Mitzi. Most mothers I talk to have said the exact opposite. I suppose it just goes to show how differently all our bodies are wired. Good luck in you continuing efforts. Thanks for another thoughtful comment :-)

I personally found for me, that breastfeeding made me keep on the weight until I stopped. Then it was easier. Not sure why this is. And it's currently left me pretty depressed nursing my current baby. No matter how well I eat or how much I exercise, I'm still not a comfortable weight. Which pushes me to want to cut my baby off from nursing now. I still try though. I've paid out a fortune for a personal trainer, haven't lost anything, but I do least feel stronger, have more energy, and feel 'taller'. When I can wean in a few months, hopefully the training will help things fall off faster. And yes, even during pregnancy, I had my Pilates trainer, she did special pregnancy Pilates.

Ah, Michelle, you've hit on another great piece of advice that I forgot to mention. Thanks! You are correct. Breastfeeding is a great way to shed extra pounds after birth. My wife breastfed both boys for a long time and I think that helped a great deal. Thanks for the comment!

Denise, You are Right! I should have mentioned that. Staying active during pregnancy is a great way to train a body to shed the weight afterward. Walking in the Pool is an excellent piece of advice. Thanks!

Mom, you bring up a good point. Genetics have a lot to do with our abilities to lose the weight. You and I can lose weight just by thinking about it. other people have it much harder :-)

Another thing that helps (although I admit it's not always possible) is to try to remain active during the pregnancy. Jon had me walking in the pool for at least 30 minutes 4X a week. It was incredibly low impact but I believe it made losing the weight after the pregnancy much easier. Now...some nights I was not exactly the most cooperative (didn't feel like it) and would pout like a brat. That didn't stop husband o'mine from driving my pregnant self to the gym. Once I got there I was fine, and always happy he motivated/pushed me when I needed it. Great article Keith!

Luckily that's one problem I didn't have. I was able to go home and zip up the jeans I wore before the pregnancy but the "baby pouch" lurks in the shadows to jump you after 50. :-)
