Below is a video of Alan, my 5 year old, doing his Master Reader lesson from Hooked on Phonics.  He read the first chapter earlier in the day, and I was so proud of him that I asked him if he wouldn’t mind doing it again for the camera.  The green level represents the end of the second (of four) level in Master Reader.  I wrote a review of the Master Reader program, along with the other HOP products, a while ago; if you’re interested in homeschooling or just want your kid to have some extra practice, maybe my insight will be helpful.  The K-2nd grade levels are top notch, and Master Reader just continues that excellence for further practice and confidence. 

I was introduced to Hooked on Phonics through a friend of mine several years ago after she saw me struggling with other reading methods and workbooks.  My boys have devoured everything HOP has to offer in the last few years.  Neil, my 7 year old, just finished reading Stuart Little and is attempting Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightening Thief.  To be honest I think that selection might be a bit over his head, but the fact that he wanted to try anyway is admirable and a testament to his progress.  They’ve both come a long way since they began.  I hope to get Neil on camera tomorrow if he agrees. 

Aquí abajo está un video de Alan, mi hijo de 5 años de edad, haciendo su lección de Maestro Lector (Master Reader) del programa de Hooked on Phonics.  El leyó el primer capítulo más temprano, y yo estaba tan orgulloso de él que le pregunté que si no le importaba leerlo nuevamente para la cámara.  El nivel verde representa el final del segundo (de cuatro) nivel en Maestro Lector.  Hace tiempo escribí una reseña sobre el programa de Maestro Lector, al igual que otras sobre los demás productos de HOP; si estás interesado en estudiar en el hogar o simplemente quieres que tu hijo tenga más práctica adicional, tal vez mis experiencias te sean de ayuda.  Los niveles de jardín de niños a segundo de primaria son excelentes, y el de Maestro Lector continua la excelencia para mayor práctica y confianza.

Yo fui introducido al programa de Hooked on Phonics por una amiga hace ya algunos años cuando ella me vio batallando con diferentes métodos de lectura y libros de trabajo.  Mis hijos han devorado todo lo que HOP tiene que ofrecer durante los últimos años.  Neil, mi hijo de 7 años de edad, apenas terminó de leer el libro de Stewart Little y ahora está tratando de leer Percy Jackson y los dioses del Olimpo: El ladrón del rayo.  Para ser honesto yo creo que esta selección está un poco fuera de su nivel, pero el hecho de que haya querido tratar es algo admirable y un testamento a su progreso.  Los dos han progresado bastante desde que empezaron.  Yo espero tener a Neil en cámara mañana, si él acepta.
