Mindless Drones

house fascadeI was looking outside my window this morning enjoying the view of my neighborhood and suddenly realized how nice it is to live in a place with such character.  I live in an old established neighborhood that doesn’t have a HOA (Home Owners Association), and I’m thankful for it.  People living in suburbia are not typically so lucky.  They endure the indignity of tract housing and restrictive, fascist, HOAs.  I wrote a guest post for my friend Angie at her new site, What I Really Think, about this topic.  Every place I’ve lived has been a rental. Thankfully I’ve never had to rent in a place that has a HOA.  They are useless organizations that tread on the basic freedoms that Americans are supposed to cherish so much, individual rights, personal liberty — call it what you want.  To be constrained to someone else’s rules in my own home just doesn’t sit well with me.  Read the full article HERE and let me know what you think.

Where else will these blue haired bastards get power? Clearly idiots must give it to them for “their own good”.HOA’s were the beginning of the end for this country.

People give up their freedoms without knowing what they’re giving up because it wrapped up all pretty in a package that says “for your own good”. Thanks for another comment, Mom. :-)

We move a ton so we always rent houses instead of buying. One of the houses was in a way too restrictive subdivision. All of the driveways were behind the houses in little alleys so only visitors could park on the street. The visitor could not park on the street for more than a day though. They even had regulations stating that garbage cans could not be visible from the street unless it was garbage day. I guess the rules were not that bad but I do not like being told what I can and can not do.

Melissa, We also move frequently which is why we rent. we’ve been very fortunate not to have your experience with a house. But, I do know plenty of people who have, and it’s a shame. People just don’t realize when they buy a house how much of it is their. IT’s bad enough they have the bank to deal with, but HOAs just make it that much more unbearable, thanks for dropping in, melissa!

You summed it up, Dennis. Mc everything. It’s really terrible. People think 1984 is fiction. Yeah, right!
