Grown up Bullies

pin_back to your bridge evil troll1I’ve talked about child bullies before.  As bad as it is for kids to be bullies to other kids it is many magnitudes worse for an adult to be a bully to a child.  Now, we’ve all seen parents snap at their kids, and that’s annoying and we feel bad for the kid.  Grocery stores are a popular place for kids to act like idiots and parents to become unhinged.  Kids’ sporting events are especially attractive places for fathers to become raving idiots towards their kids. Yeah, nothing new there.  But, what about teachers or even complete strangers?  Some of these sorts of people probably think they’re completely justified because the kid is acting stupid or has done something wrong.  The indications, from the following two examples, show that they are nothing more than angry bullies.

Grown Up Bullies | Abusive Srtrangers | Toddler Slapped | Roger StepensOur first example comes from an arrest report in Kansas City.  Is it a surprise that this happened at a Walmart?  Not to me it isn’t.  A mother and daughter (two year old daughter) were shopping and the girl began to cry, apparently uncontrollably.   A 61 year old really grumpy looking guy (picture shown) told the mother, “If you don’t shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you.”  Then, the police report states, he whacked the girl at least 4 times and said, “See, I told you I would shut her up.”  All of us who can defend ourselves can only imagine what we would have done to this guy in a similar circumstance.  But, I think he intentionally targeted someone he thought he could bully.  That’s just wrong.

The second example is from Venezuela.  You don’t need to understand Spanish (I doubt native speakers even know what she’s saying) to understand the sheer asininity of this woman.  The person recording the video is a student teacher (learning to be a teacher).  The incident took place in Ciudad Ojeda, Venezuela.  The conclusion, happily, is what I would expect; she got her license suspended and is permenantly barred from teaching.  Who knows what the kids could have done to make her that angry.  The point is that she has no right being a raving lunatic.  This also highlights the value of technology in recording these abusive instances.  Otherwise this lady might still be teaching, a travesty.

Bonus Video

I understand getting angry and I understand having the urge to throttle somebody.  Two year olds are completely helpless.  Elementary school kids are nearly as helpless.  Kids are, by and large, obnoxious.  That doesn’t give us the right to abuse them, for the same reason Mike Tyson shouldn’t be beating up some woman, no matter what she did to make him mad.  I guess the lesson to these stories is that there really are people who need anger management.  What else is there to say?

Shameful! It’s a good idea to teach kids when to question authority too!
